Notes for Michael Kauffman and Elsbeth Hirschi

1648 Michael Kauffman was born 28 May 1648. [1]

c 1650 Elsbeth Hirschi was born. [2]

1668 Michael Kauffman married Elsbeth Hirsing (Hirshi) from Schangnau on 26 Feb 1668 at Steffisburg. [3]

1680 Michael Kauffman left Steffisburg about 1680 and possibly went to live at Schangnau, where his brother Isaac Kauffman, the Anabaptist preacher, took refuge when the authorities were trying to arrest him. [4]

1692 Michael Kauffman may have been the Anabaptist from Friedelsheim in the Pfalz who was buried at Baldenheim, Alsace on 6 Jan 1692. He had been working for Hans Währy, an Anabaptist at Baldenheim and died while he was traveling back to Switzerland. [5]
