Narrative

John Franklin Goodhart and his nephew, John A. Bohler, were members of the Pennsylvania Colony that founded the town of Osborne City, Kansas on May 1, 1871. John soon decided he wanted to return to Pennsylvania and did so, leaving his goods to his nephew. A Civil War veteran, John Goodhart was listed on an 1883 military pensioner roll (certificate No. 13,408) as living in Reading and receiving a pension of $8.00 a month.
