The different families of the name of Runkle who trace their ancestry back to the early emigrants are principally descendants of those who came to America between the years 1740 and 1750. Among these were Nickel or Nicholas Runckel, who came with Johan in the ship "Loyal Judith" from Rotterdam, last from Cowes, Sept 2, 1743, and Jacob Runckel, who came in the ship Hampshire "from Rotterdam, last from Falmouth Sept 17, 1748.
