The Sechrist Bible

As metioned on the “previous” page, I obtained a family Bible after the passing of my aunt Anna Mae Ressler. It is a Harding Medium Edition, published in Philadelphia in 1860. It belonged to the family of my great-great-grandmother Martha Sechrist, most likely her sister Mary, as the initial entries on the family pages are for Henry M. Weiler and Mary M. Sechrist. Presumably it was passed to Martha, who then passed it down her husband's Ressler line.

A quick look at the cover shows a modest amount of fire damage. While there may have been other fires, I do know my father's house burned down when he was a kid in late 1949, so the damage is certainly consistent with that event.

The interior is in otherwise good condition, or at least as good as can be expected for a 150 year old book (see here and here). There are a handful of color and black-and-white illustrations (two included above) all on plain paper. The family register pages are on slighly glossier paper located between the two testaments.
